“If you believe it you can achieve it”

That quote seemed to be the theme of the night at Moraine Park’s General Educational Development (GED) and High School Equivalency Diploma (HSED) graduation ceremony on June 14th. About 250 students went through the program, with 33 participating in the ceremony. What a wonderful event, with Moraine Park staff, and graduate friends and family celebrating the academic achievements of these inspirational students.

Dr. Sheila Ruhland (far right) is accompanied by basic education instructor Greg Harding and graduate Karen Espinoza.
Three graduates spoke at the ceremony, each with a different story of overcoming obstacles for educational success. Many of the graduates have plans to continue their education by attending Moraine Park or another institute of higher learning.

The Friend of Basic Education Award was presented to Moraine Park’s staff of four Disabled Students Specialists.  Congratulations to this team, and all staff that played a role in helping these graduates achieve success.  I sincerely wish the GED/HSED students the best as they move forward to new opportunities.
